Welcome to First Zombie Church of the Undead

Seems like everywhere you turn, everyone is getting ready for the coming Zombie Apocalypse. Movies and TV shows abound with the brain craving, feet shuffleing, moaning half-deads. Heck, even the CDC has a Zombie Preparedness Webpage.
.
The Zombie profile is pretty basic:
- Insatiable brain craving (I wonder if they prefer the frontal lobe over the cortex)
- Can’t run fast
- Smell like a combo of mothballs and rancid meat
- Absence of a soul
- Moaning sounds
- Decaying skin
.
They’re dangerous, deadly and almost unstoppable. But you know, Zombies need church too. Who’s reaching out to them?! As Kevin Hendricks says “For too long the church has ignored zombies. But who among us hasn’t shuffled along at some point in our Christian journey? Who hasn’t responded to the pastor’s intricately detailed theological treatise with a long and raspy moan? Sometimes we’re not that different from zombies, and once we realize that, we will reach out with love, grace and rubber gloves.”
.
Just think of it. A Church for the living dead. Imagine a church that’s completely self absorbed. A church that kinda just shuffles around aimlessly. A church that’s void of a soul and at best just moans at the culture around it. A place where the walking dead would feel right at home. Services that resemble a funeral. Shallow relationships marked by selfishness. Decaying programs that simply refuse to die. Lots of back biting…literally. “….welcome to…First Zombie Church…mmmmaaahhhhooonnnn….”
.
“Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of the bones of the dead and everything unclean. In the same way, on the outside you appear to people as righteous but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness.”
Jesus ~ Matthew 23:27-28
